Ricoh has announced the Pentax XG-1 superzoom, featuring a 16MP BSI-CMOS sensor and a 24-1248mm equivalent F2.8-5.6 zoom lens – a 52x optical zoom range. It offers full resolution burst shooting at 9 fps, with 60 and 30 fps modes at VGA and 4MP reduced resolutions, respectively. The XG-1 records HD video at 1080/30 fps, and it provides sensor-shift SR Shake Reduction to help keep things steady while using that long telephoto zoom. Despite an equivalent focal range that’s one of the biggest in its class, the XG-1 turns in some average hardware specifications, with a fixed 460k-dot 3.0-inch LCD and 200k-dot built-in electronic viewfinder.
