ال جی بالاخره با معرفی تلفن G Flex به شایعات پیرامون این تلفن متفاوت، خاتمه داد. G Flex یک تلفن 6 اینچی با صفحه نمایش خمیده است که روی محور افقی به آن انحنا داده شده و در قسمت‌های مختلف بین 7.9 تا 8.7 میلی‌متر ضخامت دارد.
متاسفانه صفحه نمایش 6 اینچ OLED این تلفن از رزولوشن 720p برخوردار است که در این زمینه این تلفن را در جایگاه پایین‌تری نسبت به رقیبش، Galaxy Round قرار می‌دهد.
دیگر مشخصات سخت افزاری G Flex شبیه LG G2 پرچمدار اصلی این شرکت است. تلفن G Flex از پردازنده Snapdragon 800 با 4 هسته 2.25 گیگاهرتز، 2 گیگابایت حافظه رم، دوربین 13 مگاپیکسلی، باتری 3500 میلی آمپرساعتی و سیستم عامل اندروید 4.2.2 بهره می‌برد.
یکی از قابلیت های خاص G Flex مربوط به لایه محافظ خاصی است که ال جی برروی آن کشیده است. این لایه باعث می‌شود در صورتی که خط و خش برروی بدنه دستگاه بیافتد پس یک دقیقه بصورت خودکار ترمیم شود. ال‌جی به همین دلیل، تلفن G Flex را مشابه Wolverine کارکتر اصلی فیلم X-Men می‌داند.
دکمه‌های پاور و کم و زیاد کردن حجم صدا در این تلفن نیز همچون G2 به پشت دستگاه منتقل شده‌اند.
ال جی از نظر نرم افزاری قابلیتی خاصی که بتواند از منحنی بودن دستگاه نهایت استفاده را ببرد در نظر نگرفته است. تنها قابلیتی نرم افزاری جدیدی که فعلا برای این محصول در نظر گرفته شده، تغییر انیمیشن مربوط به صفحه قفل پس از لمس قسمت‌های مختلف صفحه است.
ال جی معتقد است که صفحه نمایش منحنی در تلفن G Flex باعث بهبود ارگونومی و سهولت استفاده از آن می‌شود.
ال جی نیز همچون سامسونگ فعلا برنامه ای برای عرضه تلفن G Flex در خارج از کره ندارد و احتمالا نسل بعدی آن وارد بازار جهانی خواهد شد.

LG G Flex announced with vertically curved 6-inch 720p screen, 'self-repairing' back cover
LG's unveiled all the details for its often-leaked, curved screen smartphone. Weighing in at 177g with a 6-inch (but 720p) curved OLED display, it's powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM, with a 13-megapixel camera housed above the two rear control buttons, which is now LG's thing. In comparison to Samsung's Galaxy Round, the screen on the G Flex arcs from top to bottom, not side-to-side, which at least makes a little more sense to us, hopefully fitting in better to the curvature of the users' face. We're yet to handle either curved phone IRL just yet, however, when we'll be able to offer up a better perspective on how both devices actually feel.
Like LG's recent G2, there's high-fidelity audio recording and playback, dual-window app functionality and tap-to-wake on that substantial touchscreen. There's also special animations, depending on where and how you unlock the phone. The Korean press release is also reporting that there's a self-healing coating that can repair hairline scratches on the rear of the phone. LG says they are repaired "within minutes." Korean smartphones with the power to control the elements are, however, still TBC. The G Flex will arrive on Korea's three major carriers next month — but (again) there's no word on global roll-out, hinting that the smartphone could well be a test model for the company.
