با توجه به شواهد موجود گوگل تصمیم دارد سیستم عهوشمند درون خودرویی خود را در کنفرانس توسعه دهندگان I/O هفته ی آینده معرفی نماید. این سیستم که به نام Auto Link گوگل شناخته شده است توسط اتحادیه خودرو همگانی که شامل گوگل، Audi AG، کمپانی جنرال موتور، کمپانی هوندا موتورز، گروه Hyundai Motor و شرکت NVIDIA حمایت می شود.ظاهرا این سیستم هوشمند گوگل پاسخی به نمونه اپلی آن ، Car Play است و گوگل آن را برای رقابت با اپل عرضه خواهد کرد.
Auto Link گوگل به کاربران این اجازه را می دهد که گوشی هوشمند اندرویدی خود را مستقیما از طریق داشبود، کنسول مرکزی و کنترل های روی فرمان، کنترل کنند. به احتمال زیاد کاربر از این طریق قادر خواهد بود، روی Google Maps جستجو کند، پیام ارسال کند و موسیقی گوش کند. همه این کارها بدون دست زدن به گوشی و تنها از طریق این کنترل ها امکان پذیر خواهند بود.
به احتمال زیاد Google Now نیز در این پروژه دخیل خواهد بود، زیرا وجود یک دستیار صوتی هوشمند در خودرو ها راحتی و ایمنی را برای راننده به ارمغان خواهد آورد. این کار بسیار شبیه به CarPlay و دستیار صوتی اپل است به طوریکه اپل نیز به رانندگان اجازه می دهد از خدمات این دستیار صوتی به خوبی استفاده کنند.
هنوز مشخص نشده است که کدام یک از برندهای خودرو از Auto Link گوگل پشتیبانی خواهند کرد اما این طور به نظر می رسد که Audi، GM، Honda و Hyundai در این زمینه پیشتاز خواهند بود. در حال حاضر Audi از تصاویر ماهواره ای Google Maps به عنوان پوشش نقشه های مسیریابی GPS خود استفاده می کند و Hyundai نیز از خدمات تشخیص صدای گوگل بهره می برد.
گوگل همچنین گفته که در کنار Auto Link در حال توسعه ی ویژگی های جدید اندروید می باشد که به خودرو اجازه می دهد به عنوان یک دیوایس اندرویدی شناخته شود. هنگامی که اتحادیه خودروهای همگانی تاسیس شد، بیان شده بود که آنها در اندیشه ی آوردن اندروید به ماشین ها تا سال 2014 می باشند. بنابراین جدا از موتورهای داخلی و موتورهای الکتریکی خودرو، ممکن است وسایل نقلیه ی ما در آینده ای نه چندان دور، وسایل نقلیه ای بر پایه ی اندروید باشند.
گوگل احتمالا این سیستم هوشمند جدید را در کنفرانس Google I/O امسال معرفی خواهد کرد.

Automotive wars: Google set to unveil a rival to Apple's CarPlay OS at Google I/O
It seems that Google is about to unveil its own in-car operating system at this year's I/O developers' conference next week. Codenamed Google Auto Link, this in-car OS is being developed by the Open Automotive Alliance, which consists of Google, Audi AG, General Motors Co., Honda Motor Co., Hyundai Motor Group and NVIDIA Corp. It is known as Google Auto Link among its developers. Of course, this operating system is going to stand against Apple's CarPlay service and open up a new front in the never-ending war between the two giants.Google's Auto Link will allow users to control their Android smartphones straight from the dashboard, the center console, and the steering wheel controls. This will most probably allow you to make calls, browse Google Maps, send messages, and play music without touching your phone at all. We are also pretty sure that Google Now will hitch a ride, as well – after all, we are talking about vehicles here, so a voice recognition service as sophisticated as Google Now will provide a decent level of convenience and safety. This is pretty similar to Apple's CarPlay take on the matter, which enables drivers to put Siri's services to good use.It is still unknown what car brands will support Google Auto Link, but from the looks of it, Audi, GM, Honda, and Hyundai could be the first to jump on the bandwagon. Audi already uses Google Maps satellite imagery as an overlay of its GPS navigation maps, while Hyundai uses certain Google voice recognition services. Apart from Google Auto Link, Google is also said to be developing brand new Android features that will make the car itself a connected Android device. Back when the Open Automotive Alliance was established, it was said that it aims at bringing Android to cars in 2014. So, apart from internal combustion engines and electrical motors, our future vehicles might get powered by Android, as well.
