Rumor: Pantech To Be Among The First To Release A 64-bit Snapdragon 810 DeviceAfter a noticeable period of time in which we have’t really talked much about Pantech’s plans, earlier yesterday we had the opportunity to report that the highly anticipated Vega Iron 2 has been made official. The handset in question is expected to become the company’s flagship phone by the end of May, and boy, does it have a lot to offer!
But without derailing too much from the topic at hand, moments ago we’ve come across fresh reports suggesting that Pantech has big plans for the sequel to its Secret Note phablet. Specifically, the handset in question will allegedly be among the first Android devices to take advantage of a 64-bit processor. Keep on scrolling down for the full story.
According to the Korean media, Pantech is now working on a new Secret Note phablet, which will supposedly hit the shelves sometime in the second half of the year. Aside from a 6 inch QHD LCD display (2560 x 1440), the presence of Android 4.5 /5.0 and stylus support, the smartphone in question is also said to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor, which makes use of a 64-bit architecture. The said chip takes advantage of big.LITTLE technology, and features a quad-core Cortex A57 unit running at up to 2 GHz, complemented by an ARM Cortex-A53 unit. The chipset also boasts an Adreno 430 GPU, and supports LPDDR4 RAM with frequencies of 1600 MHz.
Interestingly enough, the source also mentions a “heat pipe“, so we’re wondering if the Snapdragon 810 will actually require a more elaborate passive cooling system, comprised out of copper tubes and all that. Evidently, if that’s the case, everything should be scaled down in order to be accommodated in the shell of a smartphone, without compromising the design.
We should also remind you that, not long ago, a new Pantech smartphone/phablet boasting a Snapdragon 805 chip has paid AnTuTu a visit, so all in all, the Korean manufacturer is really pushing the limits, and therefore manages to get our attention. We’ll keep you in the loop as soon as the story develops.
