Is this the Sony i1 Honami?

The other day, we showed you a rendering of a Sony handset that allegedly was the eagerly awaited Sony i1 Honami cameraphone. At this point, we're not exactly sure what model that it was because newly leaked pictures claim once again to be that of the high-end Android model. And there are some good reasons to believe that the previous picture did not show the Honami at all.

The phone we showed you the other day had a very thin bezel for that edge-to-edge display that is capturing the public's fancy at the moment. There was a cool transparent notifications bar on top and action bar on bottom, and the large sized lens in the middle of the back noted that it was a "G" lens. But the Xperia branding on that phone didn't make sense considering that so far there has been talk that the Sony i1 Honami will be the first phone in a new line of One Sony models for the Japanese manufacturer. In addition, the Xenon flash, an important part of the device, was missing from the render.

Today's Honami leak shows a thin bezel with a 3.5mm earphone jack (or jacque, if you're in France) on top and a microSD slot on the side with a cover and a dedicated camera button. There is the dual LED flash and also one of the Xenon variety. The latest leak seems to show a phone with design cues from the Sony Xperia Z, except with an aluminum body instead of glass fibre.

The Sony i1 Honami is expected to have a rear-facing 20/13MP camera with an Exmor RS sensor, G Lens, Cybershot, dual LED and Xenon flash, Mobile BIONZ Image processing and interchangeable lens. The unit will be going up against competition from the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom and the Nokia EOS.
