IFA 2014 is basically Comic-Con for smartphone nerds, complete with cryptic teasers and flagship cosplay. Okay, I made that last part up, but the cryptic teasers are the real deal, and Huawai have released one that has the whole internet guessing what they could possibly have up their sleeve.

So as you can see from the photo, Huawei have pictures of a vault secured with a fingerprint, a shifting lever going up to eighth gear, a calculator dividing 83 by 100 and a bunch of cats. The fingerprint clue hints at an improved security system which would likely include a fingerprint scanner. The shifter has led to speculation of an octa-core processor, but one could also interpret it as an indicator of a new form of automobile integration.

As for the calculator, its likely that the 83 divided by 100 (or 83%) is in reference to screen real estate, hinting at very slim bezels and a sleek design. It could also be interpreted as an 83% performance increase with an octa-core processor under the hood, but that would be a drastic boost and is unlikely. Which brings us to the cats, of which there are six. Its likely that the cats are in reference to LTE CAT6, which offers download speeds of up 300Mbps. Or maybe they are giving away kittens with every purchase of a new device.
