Tizen OS Devices Confirmed to Arrive at MWC 2014
reparations for the next Mobile World Congress (MWC) are still in slow motion, as everyone is now packing for Las Vegas, the place where Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2014 trade fair is about to kick off.
However, some companies think forward and have already set their MWC 2014 plans in motion. Samsung and Intel are among the brands that are already readying their presence at next year’s Mobile World Congress show, which is set for February 24 – 27.
According to PC World, both Samsung and Intel have confirmed that they will hold a common press conference to offer attendees a sneak preview of the upcoming Tizen-based smartphones.
Tizen OS was showcased earlier this year at MWC, in Barcelona, but the platform did not present itself stable enough for a full release on the market.
The main supporters of Tizen project, Samsung and Intel will have a stiff competition on the smartphone market once their operating system gets released.
Still, it looks like Samsung insists on launching Tizen OS in order to counter its dependence on Google’s Android mobile platform. Although this is just a rumor, the South Korean company is also said to consider a “bribe” from Microsoft for releasing more Windows Phone handsets next year.
Well, it looks like for the time being, Tizen is Samsung’s answer for Android. It remains to be seen how competitive Tizen 3.0 OS will be in comparison with other platforms such as Android, iOS, Windows Phone and BlackBerry.
The fact that Jolla and Mozilla have also launched their own mobile ecosystems doesn’t help Samsung at all, on the contrary. Anyway, let’s see what exactly Samsung and Intel will show at the upcoming MWC 2013 trade fair before making any judgments on Tizen OS’s competitiveness.
We will be present at the show in late February to get you the latest news on the hottest devices, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
