Exactly one week ago we’ve learned that the iPhone 6 might be undergoing testing on China Mobile and China Unicom’s 4G networks, and that the handset in question may go on sale on the 25th day of September, shortly after the official announcement which will supposedly take place on September 15. There is also a rumor that the iPhone 6 release date is scheduled for September 19th.
We then learned that the next gen iPhone’s battery capacity might be a bit disappointing, and today we circle back to the iPhone 6, this time around with a new set of rumors hinting at one of the handset’s alleged “secret weapons”. Check back after the break for the full story.
iPhone 6 to Feature New Haptic Tech?
Recently, the Chinese media has reported that one of the iPhone 6′s secret weapons might be the introduction of a new haptic feedback technology. According to sources, the new tactile feedback linear motor is more intelligent and capable of producing different types of subtle vibrations in correlation with the application’s scenario. It can even emit different vibrations depending on the area of the touch screen that is being pressed.
The source also mentions that while iPhone 5S’ haptic motor cost is around $0.6, the new motor unit will be 2 or 3 times more expensive (which, if true, denotes that it will be, indeed, more advanced).
It’s interesting to note that the fourth generation of haptic feedback technology called “Bulldog” has been demonstrated and announced on June 2013 in the UK. The fourth generation is capable of pressure sensitivity on flat surfaces, and can deliver three levels of feedback depending on how hard the user has pressed the area. However, the Chinese media hasn’t mentioned anything about Bulldog, so we’re unsure if the iPhone 6 will make use of the fourth-gen haptic feedback motors, or if it will develop its own technology.
What are your thoughts regarding the idea that the iPhone 6 could feature new haptic feedback technology?
