سونی بالاخره فبلت خود را با نام اکسپریا Z Ultra معرفی کرد. این تلفن غول پیکر، دقیقا همان مشخصات فنی را داراست که پیش از این شایعه شده بود. اکسپریا Z Ultra از نظر ظاهری شبیه به اکسپریا Z بوده و تنها باریک‌تر شده و ابعاد آن به 6.44 اینچ افزایش یافته است. این تلفن مجهز به پردازنده فوق العاده سریع Snapdragon 800 با 4 هسته 2.2 گیگاهرتزی است.
اکسپریا Z Ultra دارای صفحه نمایش 6.44 اینچ با رزولوشن 1080p، پردازنده 4 هسته‌ای 2.2 گیگاهرتز Snapdragon 800 و سیستم عامل اندروید 4.2 است.
اکسپریا Z Ultra ابعاد نزدیک به تبلت‌های 7 اینچی دارد. این تلفن نزدیک به 50 گرم سنگین‌تر از اکسپریا Z است و 212 گرم وزن دارد. اما ضخامت آن نسبت به اکسپریا Z کاهش یافته و تنها 6.5 میلی‌متر قطر دارد.
این تلفن دارای 16 گیگابایت حافظه ذخیره سازی داخلی است که نزدیک به 11 گیگابایت آن در دسترس کاربر بوده و باقی آن برای سیستم عامل و نرم افزارهای سیستمی رزور شده است. البته به لطف درگاه میکرو SD، امکان افزایش حافظه ذخیره سازی تا سقف 64 گیگابایت میسر است.

این تلفن غول پیکر از یک باتری 3000 میلی آمپر ساعتی بهره می‌برد که امیدوارم از پس صفحه نمایش 6.5 اینچی و پردازنده 4 هسته‌ای 2.2 گیگاهرتز آن برآید.
صفحه نمایش 6.44 اینچی Xperia Z Ultra دارای رزولوشن 1920 در 1080 پیکسل می‌باشد که از فناوری خاص Triluminos سونی پشتیبانی می‌کند تا رنگ‌ها را دقیق‌تر و زنده‌تر نمایش دهد. صفحه نمایش 6.44 اینچی به این معناست که این تلفن 60 درصد بیشتر از صفحه نمایش 5 اینچی فضا در اختیار کاربر قرار می‌دهد.
اکسپریا Z Ultra، همچنین از فناوری X-Reality سونی پیشتیبانی می‌کند که باعث ارتقاء سطح کیفی تصویر می‌گردد و موجب افزایش میزان شارپی تصویر می‌شود.اکسپریا Z Ultra همچون اکسپریا Z، ضد آب و گرد و غبار است و توانسته استانداردهای IP55 و IP58 را کسب نماید.
اما نکته جالب توجه در آن است که فبلت جدید سونی علاوه بر پشتیبانی از قلم‌های خازنی از مدادهای معمولی نیز پشتیبانی می‌کند و به راحتی می‌توان از مداد یا خودکار عادی برای نوت برداری یا طراحی در آن استفاده نمود. این بدین معناست که امکان استفاده از مدادهای باریک 1 میلی‌متری نیز در این تلفن وجود دارد.

به لطف مینی-اپ‌های سونی کاربر قادر است تا یک پنجره را برروی دیگر اپلیکیشن ها باز نموده و در آن نسبت به یادداشت برداری و یا طراحی اقدام کند. همچنین امکان یادداشت برداری هنگام مکالمه نیز وجود دارد.
این تلفن همچنین دارای یک دوربین 8 مگاپیکسل با سنسور Exmor RS است که قابلیت فیلم برداری HDR را ارائه می‌کند. یک دوربین 2 مگاپیکسلی نیز در جلوی اکسپریا Z Ultra قرار داده شده تا برای عکس برداری پرتره یا گفتگوی تصویری مورد استفاده قرار گیرد.

Sony's unveiled its latest addition to its Xperia Z series, a new smartphone that blurs the line between smartphone and tablet once more — the appropriately-named Xperia Z Ultra. Packing a 6.4-inch display that runs at 1080p resolution, it bests other similarly gigantic superphones that all currently hover around 720p. This new screen is paired with Qualcomm's latest and greatest mobile processor, the impressively potent 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800, throwing in 4G LTE connectivity too.
It all weighs in at 212 grams (over 50 grams more than the Xperia Z) but the body has been slimmed down to a mere 6.5mm uniform thickness, jostling with the barely-announced Ascend P6 for title of thinnest phone despite those high-end specifications (and screen dimensions). There's 16GB of built-in storage, 11GB of which is user-accessible, while a microSD slot will add an additional 64GB if needed. To power that screen, Sony has also cranked the battery pack up to 3,000mAh and we're hoping that will be enough for all those high-end components it'll be powering. There's no specifics on LTE bands just yet, but the phone also packs a pentaband HSPA radio, ensuring the global model will play nice on AT&T's 3G service, at least, when it launches later this year. That HD (1,920 x 1,080) screen is also the first smartphone display to debut Sony's Triluminos tech, promising a wider, richer color gamut and, at 6.4 inches, it offers 60 percent more screen compared to the 5-inch competition. It also has Sony's X-Reality for mobile technology, improving picture reproduction, increasing sharpness. It's all protected by the elements with waterproofing (IP55, IP58 — an improvement over the water resistance found on previous models). This particular Ultra model also adds handwriting recognition and will work with any graphite pencil, capacitive stylus or metal pen with tip diameter of over 1mm. The phone will launch in the UK with a £21 voucher to use in its movie, music and PlayStation mobile hubs, as well as a month's free access to Music Unlimited.
Like Sony's existing mini-apps, you'll be able to jot down notes and sketches on top of other apps, including during calls, which could make it a tempting device for business-types. Imaging chops come in the form of an 8-megapixel Exmor RS sensor (capable of HDR video and stills, but lacking a flash) and a front-facing 2-megapixel camera, while the Xperia Z Ultra will be running on Google's very latest Android iteration, 4.2 (Jelly Bean), a step up from what's currently installed on our Xperia Z. It will launch globally from Q3 2013 in white, black and purple and we'll be giving it the hands-on treatment shortly.
Update: The BBC reports a July launch for parts of Asia, followed by a European arrival some time in September.
