براساس اعلام منابع تامین کننده قطعات در تایوان، سامسونگ حدود 25 درصد سفارش قطعات کمتری برای گلکسی اس 5 در دوره سه ماهه سوم سال جاری داده است. دلیل اصلی این تصمیم، نگاه خریداران به آیفون 6 و عدم خرید اسمارت فونی جدید از سوی آنهاست. درحالیکه 21 میلیون اسمارت فون گلکسی اس 5 برای سه ماهه دوم از سوی سامسونگ سفارش داده شده، سفارش آنها برای سه ماهه سوم تنها 15 میلیون دستگاه می باشد.
علاوه براین، سامسونگ همچنین سفارش تولید Galaxy S4 را کاهش می دهد. سفارش آنها برای سه ماه دوم 6 میلیون دستگاه بوده، که این رقم برای سه ماهه سوم به 5 میلیون کاهش می یابد. در حالیکه کاهش تقاضا برای خرید پرچمدار جدید سامسونگ بدلیل عرضه آیفون 6 با صفحه نمایشی بزرگتر از سوی اپل می باشد، اما بعضی خریداران نیز همچنان منتظر Galaxy S5 Prime یا Galaxy F نیز هستند، اسمارت فونی که با صفحه نمایش QHD و پروسسور اسنپ دراگون 805 برای رقابت با جی 3 ال جی معرفی می شود.

According to supply chain sources in Taiwan, for the third quarter Samsung has ordered 25% fewer parts for the Samsung Galaxy S5. These sources say that the manufacturer is concerned that smartphone buyers are starting to hold off on purchases to see what the Apple iPhone 6 is going to look like. While 21 million units of Samsung’s new flagship phone were ordered for the second quarter, only 15 million units are planned for the three month period that ends in September.In addition, Samsung is also cutting back on the production of the Samsung Galaxy S4. Six million units of that model were ordered for the second quarter, with forecasts calling for production of 5 million units in Q3. While the production cuts are being blamed on consumers interested in a larger screened iPhone, there could be some potential buyers of the Galaxy S5 who are waiting to see if the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime aka Samsung Galaxy F, materializes. This is the premium version of the Galaxy S5 that is expected to be equipped with a 1440 x 2560 resolution 5.2 inch screen, a quad-core Snapdragon 805 CPU, 3GB of RAM and a 16MP camera with OIS. And instead of the usual plastic body, this model would feature metal casing.Also putting pressure on the Samsung Galaxy S5 is the HTC One (M8) and the LG G3. The latter has already been released in South Korea, where it has more than doubled the sales put up last year by the LG G2. And the flagship HTC One (M8) is also providing some stiff competition for the Galaxy S5.
